Built so anyone can follow the working

Most stock research is either paid for or presented as a verdict with no reasons attached. Sentinel is free, and it shows every step behind every rating, so the people who usually get shut out of investing research, such as students, first-time investors and anyone on a tight budget, can see how it is done.

01Free for everyone

Every rating, every factor breakdown, the Shari'ah screen and the explanations behind them are free. There is no card to enter, no trial that runs out, no adverts and no tracking. Signing in is all it takes.

The cost of good research should not decide who gets to understand the market. Keeping the core of Sentinel free is how we make sure it does not.

02It teaches as it rates

A Sentinel rating is not a black box. Each one is built from nine factors with fixed, published weights: analyst estimate revisions, earnings surprises, upcoming catalysts, quality, valuation, share dilution, short interest, insider activity and momentum. You can see what each one contributed, which way it pushed the score, and how much it counts.

Reading a few ratings all the way down is a practical introduction to how professional analysts look at a company. You learn what an estimate revision is by watching one move a score, not by memorising a definition.

Sentinel is also honest about what it does not know. When data is missing, the factor counts as zero and the coverage figure drops, instead of the gap being filled with a guess. Learning to spot thin evidence is as useful as learning to read strong evidence.

03For students and first-time investors

Sentinel can be used by anyone aged 13 or over, so it suits school, college and university students studying economics, business or finance, or anyone curious about how markets work.

A simple way to learn with it:

  • pick a company you know and read its rating factor by factor;
  • write down whether you agree, and why;
  • practise with virtual money on a paper-trading account of your choice (Sentinel does not offer paper trading itself, and cannot place trades of any kind);
  • check back later, and compare your reasoning with what happened and with Sentinel's own track record, which grades every call against the market after six trading days.

That loop of reason, record and review is the habit that matters, and it costs nothing to build.

04Halal-aware by default

Many Muslim investors are left to work out on their own whether a company is permissible. Sentinel screens every company against three AAOIFI financial ratios (debt, cash and impure income) using figures from SEC filings, shows each ratio against its limit, and says so plainly when the filings cannot settle the question. It is a first-pass filter, not a fatwa.

05Designed to be usable

Sentinel works in a phone browser, with nothing to install. It respects your device's reduced-motion setting, and pages like this one are plain, readable text. If something gets in your way, tell us at support@sentineltrade.net and we will fix it.

06Schools, educators and organisations

If you teach, run a programme for young people, or work with communities who are underserved by financial education, and you would like to use Sentinel with a group, we would like to hear from you at contact@sentineltrade.net.

07What it is not

Sentinel is a research and learning tool. It is not investment advice, and it is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Investing puts your capital at risk, and you can get back less than you put in. Before investing real money, make sure you are old enough to hold the account, and consider speaking to an authorised adviser. See our Disclaimers.
